Day 2 - Do you nourish yourself?

Have you taken a look at your environment or your mental state? Is your environment hindering your growth? Is your mental state affecting your perception of the world and your self-perception? As a seed, you have areas that need nourishing. These are your mental health, spiritual health, emotional health, and physical health. All of these are connected and intertwined like the rotating colours of a Rubix cube. Pain or neglect in one affects the other. Just like a mango seed needs the right climate to thrive. So do you. To neglect any of these areas is self-harm. Why? Because it can have such an impact on your physical health, that it can lead to a slow death. A seed can become stunted or die without the right nutrients and climate, why do we think we are any different?

Everything on earth has a climate and specific nutrients needed to thrive. In an age of accessible information, ignoring these areas is a sign of self-neglect. Nourish yourself!

  1. Do you need to learn how to be emotionally intelligent so you can deal with negative emotions and stressful situations?

  2. Is your mental health being affected by your environment? Will therapy help?

  3. How is your physical health? Are you iron deficient, do you ignore it because its bothersome to treat?

  4. Do you workout or even just walk?

  5. What about your spiritual health? Do you connect with God?

  6. Do you know how to meditate and pray?

  7. Is your room dark, dingy and smelly? Does it reflect and reveal the awesome, light-giving person that you are?

  8. Do you have self-care days, where you take time to relax, de-stress and declutter?

There are so many areas of our lives that need consistent and habitual nourishing. If you don’t or can’t be bothered to nourish yourself, how do you expect to do that for someone else? The flowering of a mango tree is beautiful and it smells wonderful. Are you flowering and revealing your inner beauty or are you stunted and rotting from the inside through self-neglect?


  1. Take time and note down any of these areas that have been neglected. What can you do to enhance these areas of your life?

  2. Using the questions in the devotional as a guide, start to look for ways to boost your emotional health, your physical health, your spiritual health, and mental health
